Chapter 2(My 2nd novel): I knew you were trouble

I knew you were trouble

Ten more minutes.

Ten more minutes and it will all be over.

The clock at the top of the blackboard keeps ticking. Why is it taking so long?  Why does time seems to move slowly when I don’t want it to. Is this what they call Karma? No, I’m pretty sure Karma had nothing to do with time.

I can’t believe I’ve slept for an hour in class. Well, I did finish the pop quiz earlier than most of them. Of course AP statistics is hardly a challenge.

Heck even if I did finish it earlier, Mr. Robert didn’t seem happy about it.

It’s not my fault that I’m smart. Just because I’m smarter than most of his students, wouldn’t that make him at least a little bit proud to be my teacher? No.

All of the teachers have decided that I would be another one of those smarty brain brats that doesn’t respect their teachers.

My name is Jacob G. Alabaster and I’m a 10th grader.

Mr. Roberts was standing in front of his desk arms-crossed and looking directly at me. Another bad reason why I shouldn’t be sleeping in his class.

Why did I choose to sit at the front row? In front of the teacher’s desk to top that up. It’s all because I wanted to learn better. Once again, the teachers took it like a challenge on their superiority.

At least Mr. Robert is the nicest of all of them. He is actually a cool teacher outside of class.

Mr. Robert pulled his sleeve to look at his watch. He raised his eyebrows, obviously unsatisfied about something again as he swoop his black hair with his right hand.

He always wears sweaters and jeans no matter what the season. As cool of a teacher he is, that’s his only downside though people his age would consider him handsome. If you add up the fact that he’s a middle-aged guy then you would conclude that he have a mid-life crisis.

Mr. Robert sighed and he started moving. He is doing his usual checking-up routine. It’s this one thing where he’ll round the class, no big deal, to see who’ve finished and who haven’t except for the fact he’ll make sure that everyone finishes even if it took hours before picking up the papers.

I still remember this one time where he made us stayed in class for an additional two hours after school ended just so that one dud could finish his pop quiz.

Sometimes I wonder doesn’t he have a life?

I turn my head to my right towards the door. Through the glass of the old brown oak door, I could see 3 sets of eyes peeping through.

My friends were already here.

My heart is pounding hard just seeing them.

Mr. Robert suddenly cleared his throat. Louder than expected I suppose. Well, he must have spotted my friends outside.

“Despite the enthusiasm of celebrating someone’s birthday and also the loyalty of waiting for a friend,” Mr. Robert looks straight at me as he said those words. “I do not appreciate students spying on my class”

The class started to stifle a laugh. I lowered my head down so that no one could see my red face.

Mr. Robert always loves being the one in control. It somehow gave him contempt the way students would fear him. Don’t get me wrong, he is a great guy but it’s just that the students would know when not to cross him.

He stood in front of his desk again, arms still crossed. His nose twitches. That’s the sign. He would always twitch his nose if class is nearly over.

“All right students” his voice loud “Please submit your paper on the desk before you leave.”

I was the first to stand, impatient to get out of this place. I put my paper on the desk and rushed for the door.

My hand just touched the steel cold doorknob when Mr. Robert called me.

“Mr. Alabaster.” His voice startled me. I froze in my spot and turned around. “Happy Birthday.” He smiled at me.

I rushed outside to meet my friends but as soon as I stepped out, they were no longer there.

That was weird

Someone suddenly grabbed me by the back and held me tight. With another hand, he knuckled my hair.

He leaned himself closer to my ears and whispered, “Looking for us?”

I know that melodious soft voice anywhere. “Nick, come on man,” I said slipping his arms off me “That’s enough before people starts to question our sexuality”

He let go of me and bowed “Sir Nicholas Vasquez at your service B-Boy” He raised his head and I could see him grinning sheepishly.

Nick is a handsome guy is what girls would put it. He is a real life muscular hot Latino super model with spiky black hair and deep brown eyes that were so intent. He was wearing a plain grey T-shirt as if to show off his muscular body and a pair of blue jeans.

Unlike him, I am a scrawny lean guy, not skinny, and I would give anything to have some meat like Nick. My hair is also black but it is wavy in a kind of neat way that is longer on the frontal right side of my head and I have grey eyes. Don’t ask.

I've learned that people only have blue or brown eyes, and green sometimes but ever grey. My brother use to joke about it saying that our ancestors ware ghosts.

The Alabaster’s family trait.

“Where are the others?”I asked. I was sure that I saw the three of them here.

“Looking for us?” A girl spooked me from the back. I would have screamed halfway through my lungs if it weren't for Nick suddenly covering my mouth with his hand.

“Totally no one would ever question your sexuality Jake.” Sam giggled.

She was wearing her favorite Black shirt with ‘Death to Cheerleaders’ written in bold pink letters. Her shoulder length brown hair was kind of choppy and uneven and her blue eyes staring right at me.

Standing next to her was another friend of ours, Ryan. He’s the perfect kind of rich guy every girl would dream off. Those sexy Irish accent, handsome face, perfect white teeth, curly red hair and sparkling green eyes can easily sweep girls of their feet. Don’t get me started on his build. Though he’s nowhere close to Nick’s muscular figure, he still has more meat than I do.

Today he’s being modest by wearing a normal plain white T’s covered with his favorite green jacket and a pair of jeans.

He would normally wear expensive clothes. One of the benefits of being rich I suppose.

“Are we or are we not going to the diner?” Ryan asked. “Or rather are we going to stay here and questions everyone sexuality?”

“It’s not my fault I’m irresistible. People can’t stand my Latino heat” Nick teases.

Sam could no longer hold it as she let herself loose and laugh like her stomach was about to burst.

I grunted and turned around, “Fine, come on then” Nick joined me as Sam and Ryan both jogged behind us.

Chapter 1 (*2nd novel) And we all go down

And We All Go Down

Blood. Red hot blood splattered everywhere. The black cavern walls were smothered with the color blood. Footsteps could be heard approaching the cavern.

A lifeless body started to stand. His body aches like a million watts of lightning just surge through his vein. His robe was tattered and torn. His scythe was thrown halfway through the cave. He looked around towards his comrades lying lifeless on the floor, dying.

‘That’s funny’ he thought, ‘I’m supposed to be Death himself and yet here I am dying’

He looked at one of his comrades. An angel. Yup, a real life angel. White feathered wings sprouted from his back that would have been so beautiful if it were not battered and tainted with the color of blood. His muscular body was badly bruised even for his fast rate of regeneration the guy doubted he would survive.

Just then, the angel spoke. “Grim...” His voice was soft and melodious but yet there was a hint of pain in them.

“We’ve lost”

His brown eyes sparkled as he spoke those words. The Grim tried to reach his hand out to comfort the angel but to no avail he could not reach him.

“Hey, Raphael... I still got one more trick up my sleeves.” His voice coarse and broken that it sounded more like a whisper.

He looked around some more. What happened? No matter how hard he tried, he could only remember pieces of the battle.

There were four of them.

An angel, Raphael, a witch, Nakoda, a leprechaun, Patrick, and himself, Death, a Grim Reaper, Sebastian... They were sent to put an end to the mastermind behind all the chaos that had befallen upon the world itself.

A Fallen.

Lucifer...

Lucifer... Somehow that name made Sebastian stifle a laugh... For decades, the five of them, had been friends. One day it all changes. The land of Ether, a once peaceful land was suddenly plagued in darkness. A swarm of powerful dark magic engulfs the land. With that comes death. Famine strikes the land as a plagued of green thick fog engulfs it and ripped it of its riches. The citizens of Ether were left to starve and die. The five of them still sticks together no matter what happens.

Well, almost no matter what.

That all ended when the plagued took away the life of a wrong person.

Lucifer’s lover.

When Lucifer found out about her death, he went outrage.

He grew ferocious and started blaming people for her death.

He blamed the king for not trying to find the cure for the plagued. He blamed the medics for not being able to cure the victims. But most of all, he blamed Sebastian for taking her to the underworld.

He turned over to the dark side and led a war against the land that nearly tore Ether into two, literally. To put an end to his massacre, they were sent to stop him.

After months of a game of cat and  mouse, they’ve tracked him down at a place in the human world. A place called Seattle

The lead they have had led them into a black cavern that looks like a fissure beneath the earth. They underestimated him and were led straight into a trap. He had them where he wanted them. A dark and confined place. With one fast swoop, he managed to drop Nakoda and Patrick to their death. He then strikes down Raphael without any trouble and lastly, him..
The footsteps... They seemed closer. The sweet scent of roses filled the air but there was a hint of poisonous stench in it as the footsteps stopped in front of him.

Sebastian looked up and he could see a pair of black boots with metal spikes sticking out from the front and around the soles.  The owner of the boots leaned down to the same level of his face and smiled.

His long white hair falls down his shoulder. His purple colored eyes stared intently into him. There was no kindness in that smile of his.

Only bloodlust and hatred left.

He grabbed Sebastian by the collar and dragged him in the air. The pain in his body throbbing. He could sense that his death was near. He’d already suffered a major beating. Broken ribs, internal bleeding, and heart failure. Sebastian didn’t count the amount of cuts he’d have but he didn’t have to.

This is it.

“Well, well, Sebastian.” He whispered in Sebastian’s ears. “Checkmate.”

“What was that about you’ve got one more trick up your sleeve?” his smile changed into a sneer.

‘Those smile of his are becoming really annoying’ Sebastian thought.

He dragged Sebastian’s weak body and slammed it to the wall. Blood sputtered out of Sebastian’s mouth.

Drops of blood splattered on his face but he seemed to enjoy it.

Yes, this is what he wanted.

Revenge.

Revenge towards those people he once called friends.

He keeps on slamming Sebastian’s body to the cavern walls repeatedly but he could do nothing. He’s too weak. He’d only have one more hope in order to survive this.

A trick that might be able to kill Lucifer right here and now.

But for a price.

They would all die along with him.

‘They were already dead either way, so why not just risk it.’

Sebastian lowered his thought to his surroundings trying to seek out the amount of blood around.

Fortunately, there was more than enough of his own blood around to cast the spell.

He focused his thoughts deep into the underworld. He blocked out everything else. The pain of being slammed multiple times to the wall, the screams of his comrades, no, friends realization of what he was about to do.

He could sense the shocked in Lucifer’s face...

Lucifer kept on slamming the Grim’s body on the wall. The slamming got harder and harder every time. It was hard for Sebastian to focus but he must if he wanted to succeed.

The air became warm suddenly. The musty scent of rose and poison were replaced with a scent he was very well familiar with.

The rotting scent of the underworld.

The ground started to crumble as rays of blinding black light cuts through.

He did it.

“Death Temple” He murmured.

“You fool!!” Lucifer shouted “You’ll kill us all! For what? To protect this run-down world!”

Panicked filled the fallen but there was nothing he could do to stop the spell. It was already cast and beyond stopping.

“I’ll stop you even if it cost my life!” Sebastian responded confidently. Even though they were all said to be immortals, well there are ways to kill everything even an immortal.

This would kill them. But eventually, Lucifer will be back. He would be reborn. The Death Temple would just ensure that he would stay dead for a very long time.

Sebastian smiled.

‘My last stand’

“GRIM!!” Raphael shouted. It’s funny seeing that they’ve been friends for a very long time but Raphael had never called Sebastian by his name. “GRIM!! Se...Se... SEBASTIAN!!”

Sebastian startled

Nothing like moment of death to change people but it was nice knowing his friend accepted him finally.

The light flashes brighter cutting through everything even the darkness of the cavern. The ground finally collapsed. They all fell into the deep dark side of the underworld.

Raphael shouted something to him but all he could hear were the screams of tormented souls from below, their cold hands pulling them deeper into the oblivion.

Soon, they’ll be one of them.

At least for a million years.

He comfort himself with the very thought as they all plundered to their death.

Chapter 2: A Normal Day ( I wish)

The next morning I was sitting in class. I was in my additional mathematics's class but I have no interest in it. My place was at the front left side of the class. Just before the door but right next to the window. The sun was just rising above the horizon. The morning was musty and breezy. The morning mist was making the view outside the window fuzzy.

It's hard to believe that the day was starting with a shimmering ray of light ever since what had happened last night. What the boy said last night gave me the jujubes. I remember after night prep was over I had dragged myself straight to dorm. Even with my friends still in the festive mood and a s happy as day, I wasn't in one.

'It's okay. He's just toying with me' I thought
He's toying with my emotions. Trying to make me off balance. What He said couldn't have been true.
I paused that thought. However, it could be possible that he was telling the truth.

NO!!! What was I thinking!! These are my friends I'm thinking badly about. I should have faith in them. Deep Inside I knew that I need to talk to one person. And that person was...

Knock!Knock!

Everyone even the teacher looked at the door. It pulled me out of my thought. Speak of the devil. There he was. A boy of dark olive skin tone, black spiky hair with glasses on. He was lean but muscular in a way. He have that charming smile that can steal a thousand girls's hearts.

"Zeal" I muttered.

"Ryan" He smiled back at me.

"What do you want?" The teacher asked. She was in her twenties and she's a practical teacher. Her skin was white and she have this kind face that you should not be mistaken there's no fire hidden within.

"Sorry to bother your time Miss Sydney but I'm just here to inform something." He said giddily.

As energetic as ever. Fits his namesake; Zeal means energy anyway. I thought.

The teacher raised her eyebrows and Zeal tensed. Haha. He's so funny that way. He can get uncomfortable easily if people were to give him looks. Quite a surprise since he would always have girls all over him all day long. .

"Mmm. To all Prefect Boards.. err...  prefects, we have a meeting today at the Prefect Room at 5.00 in the evening" He smiled. He skipped a bit at where he's standing and thanked the teacher and walked away. He was passing by the window when I said, "Can we meet later on? I have something to tell you."

"Kay. Gotta run. Later then, Ryan." He smiled and then jogged off as if the hallway was his track field.

I turned around only to see the teacher folding her hands over her chest. A drop of sweat trickled down my forehead. She gave me 'The Look'

"Care to share Mr. Ovalier?" she asked.

Hehe

Chapter 1: It all begins with a rumour

I saw her sitting there, with her face slumped on the table out of sheer exhaustion. He arm was stretched across the table. Her face was facing towards my direction and I was admiring her beauty. Her snow white skin with those red plummet cheeks and her, well there's nothing to talk about her because for me, she's the most beautiful person I have ever seen. The class was very noisy although it was night 'prep', which was supposed to mean that the students should be quiet. Night 'prep' is called silent hour for a reason. I should have been able to hear if nails were to drop on the floor if they ,my classmate, would follow the rules. However, no matter how much I tried to get myself annoyed by the busy environment around me, seeing her makes it all go away. Nothing else matters. Not the sweet smell of almond cookies that one of my classmates brought to class earlier on neither the fact that my classmates were quarreling over some idiotic stuff. All that matters was her.

"Hey, aren't you supposed to be the one making sure things are toned down here?" said a soft gentle but somehow raspy voice.

There stood in front of me, a boy about three quarter of my height, dark olive skin, dark brown eyes starring me with intent as if trying to dig my deepest darkest secrets. The boy have elfish features, broad square face, a little crooked nose (just a little. Not even half of it) a broad smile with dimples on the left side of his cheeks, except for the fact that he does not have pointy ears. Give him a green hat with a dingle bell on top and a green tracksuit any time of day, with those muscular body of his, he could be an elf weightlifter.

"Are you listening to me?"

I snapped out of my trance. "Oh, yeah..."  I was still a little dazed from.... you know from what...

"Now go on. The juniors are making quiet a ruckus." I lifted my self from the chair, although I wanted to stay, but he was right.

It is my duty. You see a few months prior to this event I was elected to be one of the prefect board's members. I'm the Head of Academics. If you are thinking : "WOW!! THAT'S AMAZING! You must be really smart!"  take that back. When I was given this responsibility I  actually felt like I was being handed my death sentence.

Needless to say, I DON'T like it. Despite that, there's always a trump card being a PB(Prefect Board) member. I can be very 'convincing' with people.I walk up the flight of stairs, face down, watching the pavement of grey with it crooked edges. The staircase is a little steep. The architect that built this school was certainly not trying to do his best in designing the school. As I climbed up the stairs the noise became louder. In my head I was thinking, 'It must be them again'

I reached the 3rd floor where only the form 1's and 2's were up here. Divided by the staircase heading upstairs where the form 1's block on the left side and the form 2's on the right side. It was clear to me that the form 2's are the one making the noise, and I have a pretty good guess that I know who it is.

I take the right turn from the stairs and headed towards the second class from the center staircase. The night breeze is rustling through my hair, whistling in my ears and the cold is lingering through my spine. I dared myself to face left, betting that it was the same group of students. The moment of truth awaits as I turned my head to the right.

There' in the middle of the class stood a group of boys, one or two taller than me, the rest shorter or about the same height as me, talking like they were miles apart but in fact were just next to each other. I can guarantee if they pick up their volume just a little bit more, than the whole school could here them and I would DEFINITELY get into trouble... The noise just keeps getting louder by the minute.

'I must do something' I thought to my self.

As lazy as I was, these are my juniors for heaven's sake. I don't want them to get into any trouble... I put on a smile on my face and gave the classroom door a knock.

 KNOCK!

No respond? Two knocks then.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Excuse me?" I said aloud. The class went silent.

"Hey, it's the R-Man!!" Said a boy from the group.

He is a tad taller than me. Fine, he's around 15cm taller than me. Happy? He wore a very thick black rim glasses over those dark, deep, brown eyes of his. He have a white pale skin and his hair is neatly combed to the front right. They were oily, black and thick. Luscious in a way. The whole class went silent and just stares at me.I was getting nervous. Eyes were starring at me and I can't read all of them.

Happy? Surprised? Distaste?

I couldn't tell... All I could tell was that all of them were waiting. Waiting for me to say something.

"Ok, guys... err.. and girls..The whole class easily!!"

They all looked at me awkwardly."I'm not here to tell you guys to keep quiet, although it's silent hour and you're suppose to, but, we are still humans... In fact, my own class couldn't even keep silent.." They laugh.

Well, in fact that was the truth. No sane student would ever keep themselves shut for more than an hour!! It's tiresome and completely dead boring.

"You guys can talk but please!! PLEASE!!! I'M BEGGING YOU!! Keep the volume at a minimum. Kay?" I begged.

They paused. Thinking of something? What exactly. "Okay bro!! Thanks" said the whole class.
"Thanks."I muttered.

I turned my self, ready to head away from the class, when suddenly I remembered something. I turned around and stick my head at the front of the door once more and said

"Could I see those group of guys outside of class?"

They all stared at me and one by one, they walked out to the corridor.

The cold night was not doing me a favor as I was sitting on a ledge, my back on iron bars, the only thing that differs me from alive and sitting and falling dead flat on the pavement three floors below. The group of boys were sitting across me, leaning on the classroom windows. They were quiet a few of them. I remembered was one of them was stub, chubby with a soldier style haircut. Another was skinny, olive skin, shorter by two inces than me and had a scrawny look on his face. The glasses boy is also there.

I took a short breath and puffed, "Ok, boys. What is going on? This is like the 5th time I caught you guys talking aloud like this. What's the problem?"

They shared a look with one another and then stared at me again.

"Well?" I asked.

"You swear you would never tell anyone?" The black glasses guys asked in an aggressive tone to more like demanding.

 "It depends.."I shrugged.

"Swore!" He asked whilst staring.

"Fine, I'll swore to it!" I give in.

"It's about the form 4's and you new prefect board's members." He whispered in my ears...

Hearing it makes my heart raced.. 'What is it about us? What is he talking about? What rumor is lingering at this school about us?'What did we do wrong?''

My eyes stared into his in horror. He sneered. He have something juicy on us and I can just smell it. He have that evil look as he utter the next sentence. Something that happened that night still took time for my brain to fathom. However, something that he said next was still ringing in my head.

"The form 4's end"
